In her statement, The death of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain (both died from suicide) this week just goes to show that there is NO immunity against having depression or any other mental illness.

No matter the level of your success, wealth and the happy faces seen on the web/social media, we are all facing different life challenges.

It’s high time to normalize mental health and mental illnesses. The moment has come that we have to drop the “what will people say syndrome”. .

The time has also come that we have to reach out to one another deliberately and truly show love and care. .

We have to begin to live intentionally.. Cultivate, own and nurture healthy support systems.. Speak out when we are going through challenges that are taking a toll on our mental health.

Encourage help seeking behavior when we know of someone going through issues to prevent more premature deaths… In all, hold on to your God and when you are faced with matters like this, see your doctor and pray to get better.
.
Remember, two good heads are better than one.. Be reminded that depression cuts across all communities, races, gender, religion, etc.. No one is immune and no vaccine yet. Depression is a silent killer.

Speakout and get help from the right people, right places and right time… and that time is NOW.

May their souls Rest In Peace.
May God be with us all, Amen

Mental health advocate charges students to desist from drug abuse https://www.pinnaclemedicalservices.com.ng/mental-health-advocate-charges-students-to-desist-from-drug-abuse/ Tue, 14 Jul 2020 00:18:02 +0000 http://pinnacleweb.uke.jyd.mybluehost.me/?p=1488 Multi-Award Winning Celebrity Shrink, Mental Health Physician & Advocate, CEO of Pinnacle medical services and Initiator of Pinnacle Medicals Speakout Initiative, Dr Maymunah Kadiri charged the students of Albesta Academy, Lekki Lagos to shun use of drugs and have no association with it for the sake of their health.

Acknowledging the national drugs and Alcohol facts week, with the theme “shatter the myths” a drug abuse awareness campaign aimed to shatter the myths that teens get from the internet, social media, TV, movies, music, or from friends by linking teens to science based facts on drugs, Dr Kadiri spoke on the effect of drug abuse, how it affect students’ intelligence and the structure of the brain leading to brain damage.

In her words, drugs can cause the brain to send the wrong signals to the body. This can make a person stop breathing, have a heart attack or go into a coma. This can happen the first time the drug is used and Marijuana smoke has more cancer causing chemicals than tobacco and, smoking marijuana as a teen cause loss of IQ points that you may never get back.

Speaking on the myths and facts on drugs, Dr kadiri noted that many Nigerian youths actually believed If you smoked pot on the weekend, you’d be fine by Monday; but the fact is that the effects of the pot (marijuana) can last for up to 3 days, it will impair memory, reflexes, and coordination.

Addiction can happen at any age, even unborn children can get addicted because of their mothers’ drug use and you cannot tell if marijuana, weed or other substances are added to your food, so everyone must be careful of the company he or she keeps.

She promised enough materials will be provided to the school which will enable the students to read more on drugs abuse and the implications.

The students represented by Boluwatife Omolayo and Samuel Solarin appreciated Dr. Kadiri’s for the lecture and also admonished other students to stop drugs use and know that it affects the body system

Women Risk Mental Disorder If They Do Not Get Regular Sex- Psychiatrist https://www.pinnaclemedicalservices.com.ng/women-risk-mental-disorder-if-they-do-not-get-regular-sex-psychiatrist/ Tue, 14 Jul 2020 00:14:52 +0000 http://pinnacleweb.uke.jyd.mybluehost.me/?p=1486 Women are at risk of a mental disorder if they do not have regular sex says Nigerian psychiatrist, Dr Maymunah Kadiri.

Kadiri, who is the Medical Director of Pinnacle Medical Services gave the advice in a recent interview saying sex is not just to nourish a woman’s body, but it is also beneficial to her mental health.

She explained that sex was not just for procreation and to have children, adding that it could create bonding, good companionship and sound sleep. Kadiri, popularly called ‘celebrity shrink’, urged women dealing with depression to frequently indulge in sex, while boosting their self-esteem.

“As women, there is a need for us to make our spouses our best friends if we want to be mentally healthy. Studies have shown that women who have more active sex and in long term relationships were less likely to be depressed than women who went without sex.

So, more sex is important and essential. It is a remedy to curing women from having persistent headaches. Low sexual drive, which leads to depression, should be looked into.

A woman can be depressed when that sexual drive that she used to have is no more there. Frequent active sex can play good roles toward women’s sense of well being and quality of life,’’ Kadiri said.

Psychiatrist, Dr. Maymunah Kadiri Identifies One Sure Way Married Women Can Prevent Depression & Gain Happiness https://www.pinnaclemedicalservices.com.ng/psychiatrist-dr-maymunah-kadiri-identifies-one-sure-way-married-women-can-prevent-depression-gain-happiness/ Tue, 14 Jul 2020 00:01:12 +0000 http://pinnacleweb.uke.jyd.mybluehost.me/?p=1477 A psychiatrist, Dr Maymunah Kadiri has identified one of the ways married women can prevent falling into depression.

According to her, Depression is a common mental disorder that causes people to experience depressed mood, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite, low energy, and poor concentration.

Kadiri, who’s the Medical Director of Pinnacle Medical Services advised married women to have regular sex with their spouses in order to prevent depression and gain happiness. The doctor gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Pinnacle is a health and wellness centre for psychological, behavioral, and mental health-related issues. According to her, sex is not just to nourish a woman’s body, but it is also beneficial to her mental health.

“As women, there is a need for us to make our spouses our best friends if we want to be mentally healthy. Studies have shown that women who have more active sex and in long term relationships were less likely to be depressed than women who went without sex.

So, more sex is important and essential. It is a remedy to curing women from having a persistent headache. Low sexual drive, which leads to depression, should be looked into. A woman can be depressed when that sexual drive that she used to have is no more there.

Frequent active sex can play good roles toward women’s sense of well being and quality of life,’’ Kadiri said.

She explained that sex was not just for procreation and to have children, adding that it could create bonding, good companionship and sound sleep.

Kadiri, popularly called ‘celebrity shrink’, urged women dealing with depression to frequently indulge in sex, while boosting their self-esteem. She also advised women who are over-weight to also involve in active sex, saying doing so will boost endorphins which are happy hormones.

“The happy hormones will make them lose some calories as well as sleep better. ”Orgasms trigger the release of endorphins which are happy hormones secreted by the brain that act as effective painkillers,’’ she said.

The psychiatrist added that sex was not only beneficial to the men but especially to women because it was capable of freeing them from stress. A lot of people don’t associate sex with God – they associate it with Satan and darkness, as if sex is not holy. She went further:

”Sex is holy within marriage, and there is no prescribed style. Not discussing sex in a relationship leads to divorce!! I have counseled women who’ve complained: my husband treats me as if I were his sister.

There was one who told me: I am tired of getting sex fortnightly, like a salary. I told her she was lucky to be getting sex fortnightly, since some wives only get it on big days, like elections and Christmas and birthdays. Many husbands leave their wives to seek sexual pleasures in avenues.

Have you ever asked yourself what those women have that you don’t? Wives have become very frigid and even sleep with their panties. If you’re a married woman, you should sleep naked and let your bum touch your husband.

Today you find men going out of their way to get a glimpse of a vagina. They page through magazines and even go to lingerie departments in stores hoping to see what’s hidden under panties because their wives hide it from them.

Marriage is about being free with your body in front of your partner. A woman should parade naked and do some modeling to tempt her husband. There are many married women who don’t know what their husband’s penises look like.

She only feels it when he enters her. They’ve never touched it, let alone seen it because the husband switches off the lights before undressing. A penis is a wife’s toy – she is supposed to play with it.

I blame couples for not making time for sex and complaining about being tired after a day’s work. You find many couples who’ve been sexually starved for years. God created sex for procreation and also for pleasure.”
